This year was filled with events. Contests, five tricks in five tries, and more contests.
In between these events, we went street skating with Andy Anderson and caught the opening celebrations for the Cloverdale, BC skatepark.
This year’s Beef Under The Chief contest was a lot of fun.
Skaters came from Whistler, Vancouver, and Surrey to shred at the Squamish, BC skatepark. Andy Anderson, Merrick Orr, Chris McCallum, and Neil took the cash prizes from Plan 9 official.
Extra Big Thanks to Plan 9 for the prize money.
EXTRA Big Thanks to Jason Bothe for rocking the mic all day and keeping the stoke for hours!
BLVD Skateshop put on a great event at the Kensington Skatepark. With help from Powell Peralta, Happy Hour Shades, Lakai Footwear, Bones Wheels, 4 Star Clothing, Independent Trucks, and 187 Pads.
The contest was held on a HOT summer day in East Vancouver, BC. The riders did their best to tear up this Backyard Pool style skatepark in the heart of Vancouver.
Rippers included; Adam Hopkins, Howard, Jeff Muirhead, Sheldon Barr, Wee Wong, Rylee Wong, Rosie, Mells Bells, and a bunch of beginners learning how to tear up a concrete bowl.
Check the video for highlights.
The Vancouver Bowl series made a stop at the White Rock Skatepark. Usually this stop on the 20 year long Bowl Series has the smallest turn out.
This year was different. With some great carpooling, a lot of skaters turned out. They made the drive from Vancouver, Surrey, Maple Ridge, North Vancouver, and some came all the way from Squamish.
This bowl has a unique design. The flowing curves or Seylynn, Griffin, and Whistler bowl, are straigthened. This creates a fast capsule like bowl with mellow ditch at the top, two hips, a fun NOPING half pipe and a steep and deep bowl at the bottom.
Watch the video to see what this park is all about. Also check out Seb’s Air Runner at the end.

Danny Empe and Jesse Holland stepped up and knocked out 5 tricks in 5 tries. The idea behind it is simple. The skater calls 5 tricks that they are going to do. Then they have 5 tries at each trick to show how good they have the trick.
Danny Empe starts us out at the Lonsdale Skatepark. He throws down some serious switch magic.
Then Jesse Holland lets 5 tricks out of his bag at the One Love Skateshop’s mini ramp jam during Pitt Meadows Days.
North Delta Skatepark was taken over for a skateboarding memorial for Jamie Kehoe. This young man was taken from us too soon.
Free BBQ for everyone and prizes donated by the two local shops had people skating all day.
Late last summer BLVD skateshop put on a huge contest at the Hastings Skatepark. The prize pool was big and the skaters came out in droves.
There were competitors from Washington, Oregon, California, and BC.
Watch the video to catch the highlights from last year.
Authentic Board Supply held a unique contest on April 26th.
The Authentic Scavenger Hunt started out in Kwantlen Skatepark in Surrey, BC, with 10 teams with 4 people on a team. The goal was to complete as many challenges as possible in 4 hours.
The results were uploaded to Instagram and Facebook as each were completed. Tagged with #authenticscavengerhunt or on the Authentic Board Supply Facebook page.
Calvin Dignard had the duty to go through Instagram and Facebook and tally each teams points as they completed each challenge. He worked hard all afternoon scouring the internet for the tags.
Then the teams met up at Chuck Bailey Skatepark to have a best trick contest and award the winners of the Scavenger Hunt.
On Saturday, February 8th, 2014, Authentic Board Supply presented the awesome contest Surrey Slamma. Hippie Mike put it all together and brought on some partners – Coastal Riders, Chance Skateboards, Red Star Skateboards, Vulcan Bolts, and of course his own company Protest Skateboards. This event was about bringing back the feel of the 1980′s skateboarding that used to occur when there weren’t a million skate parks all around the world and the skaters had to use their imaginations a lot more.
