Jamie Kehoe Memorial Skate Jam 2014

North Delta Skatepark was taken over for a skateboarding memorial for Jamie Kehoe. This young man was taken from us too soon.

His father, Jay Kehoe, with help from Authentic Board Supply and Street Dreamz Skateshop came together to remember, skate, and share with the community.

Free BBQ for everyone and prizes donated by the two local shops had people skating all day.

Authentic Scavenger Hunt

Authentic Board Supply held a unique contest on April 26th.

The Authentic Scavenger Hunt started out in Kwantlen Skatepark in Surrey, BC, with 10 teams with 4 people on a team. The goal was to complete as many challenges as possible in 4 hours.

The results were uploaded to Instagram and Facebook as each were completed. Tagged with #authenticscavengerhunt or on the Authentic Board Supply Facebook page.

Calvin Dignard had the duty to go through Instagram and Facebook and tally each teams points as they completed each challenge. He worked hard all afternoon scouring the internet for the tags.

Then the teams met up at Chuck Bailey Skatepark to have a best trick contest and award the winners of the Scavenger Hunt.

Langford Slamma

On March 23rd, Hippie Mike held the Langford Slamma skateboard contest inside Heritage Boardshop.

This contest was inspired by The Savannah Slamma contest of the 80s. Small movable objects that the skaters can use anyway they like.

Watch til the end for Merrick Orr’s sick drop from the shoe wall.

This event was about bringing back the feel of the 1980′s skateboarding that used to occur when there weren’t a million skate parks all around the world and the skaters had to use their imaginations a lot more.

Whistler Bowl Series 2013

Crowning a King is tough in skateboarding. This year’s contest was even more difficult.

There are two rules that have been around since the beginning of The Bowl Series. No one can win more than once. To win King of the Bowl you must skate every stop of the series.

All year there were skaters that came to every contest and skated really well. But they had won before.

There were skaters that hadn’t won, but they didn’t skate every stop in the contest series.

But that is only if you are looking at the Advanced category. This year’s winner skated every contest, and placed top 3 at every bowl.

Watch the video to see who won.

But this year there was some added skaters, James Clarke, Brad Muscat and Calum (from Scotland).

The energy was high and so was James Clarke as he flew the biggest airs of the day. Watch the video to see if he takes first place.

JAKS Skate Team competition 20

The JAKS skate team has a long history in Vancouver, BC. A lot of that history is at China Creek Skatepark. Along time ago, they started holding a contest the first Saturday after the September long weekend.

This year Hippie Mike introduces us to the competition and demonstrates a proper ‘Jitterbug’ in the tub. At the end Dan from Maniac Skateboards tells us the ‘other’ acronym for SNFU.

Here is a video of the JAKS skate comp from 2012.

Beef Under The Chief 2010

The Beef Under The Chief contest has been going on for a couple years now. Each year has a bigger turn out than the last. This years skating definitely stepped up. This was a two run format with the top five getting a 15 minute jam final. The bowl jam got hectic and the skaters stepped up the action.

We left the music and commentary on the audio because it makes you feel like you were there. It may get a little hard to listen too but the feeling is there. Looking forward to 2011.
