Whistler Bowl Series 2009

At the end of Summer each year the Vancouver contest series has a final contest and crowns a new King. This year was a little different. At the beginning of the summer we lost a dear friend. I have always knew him as Carver Don. He suffered as head trauma at the Canada Day contest at Seylynn on July 1st, 2009. He passed later on that day. This year’s winner and King of the Bowl was declared to be Carver Don. I couldn’t think of a better and more fitting way to remember him.

Beef Under the Chief 2009

This year’s Beef Under the Chief 2009 contest was sponsored by Stuntwood, Sector 9 and Circa Combat Division.

The Women’s contest went off. There was a record number of competitors.

The Men’s advanced included Mike Pragnell, Steve Denham, Nate Lacoste, Mike Connolly, Adam Hopkins, Adam Tagg, Giver, and many more.

Afternoon at the Lonsdale Skatepark

In this episode we spend an afternoon in the Londsdale Skatepark in North Vancouver, BC.

Justin Allain accepts the challenge for 5 tricks in 5 tries. This is where a skater calls 5 tricks and has 5 attempts at each.

After Danny Alcorn joins Justin on a handrail session. Gilbert shut the park down with a giant leap.

RDS Block Party

RDS Skate Supply held a Block Party/Contest out in front of the skateshop.

This was a low key contest that only had 3 obstacles. Some great skating went down on a ledge, flat bar and a wedge ramp.

Halloween at Leeside skatepark

Skull Skates sponsored a Halloween event at Leeside Skatepark.

The event was the first time that this many skaters shredded the skater built and Lee Matasi inspired skatepark. It included Marc Tison and Barry Walsh from Quebec. Cory Klim, Gary Harris and Jeff Logan were the locals to watch tear this rough skate park up.

China Creek JAKS contest

Every Saturday after the Labour Day weekend, the Jaks Skate team host a great skate jam at the China Creek skatepark in Vancouver, Canada. This was a really fun day of skating and celebrating. This may explain why the video is a little shaky.

Beef Under The Chief

The Second Annual Beef Under The Chief skateboard contest was sponsored by Stuntwood Skateshop, Circa Combat Division, Sector 9 Longboards and many others. Skaters came from Vancouver and Whistler to compete. The contest format was 2 qualifying runs, 2 final runs, followed by a 5 minute jam. The first wall rebate was in effect and the crowd called for a few.

It was a great time. The MC, Steve Lange, did a good job of organizing a skateboard contest. Which can be like herding cats.

Lonsdale Contest

Last summer The Boardroom held a contest at the Lonsdale Skatepark. It went of without a hitch. The whole community was out with bands playing and skaters skating. I am looking forward to next year’s contest.

Antisocial Ramp On Main Street

Antisocial Skate shop put a mini ramp in the middle of Main Street in Vancouver. It was part of a Main Street Business Association Block Party. A ton of skaters showed up to shred in the sun.
